Recently, a 20-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested for allegedly attempting to take flight from police. Police documents state that the young man was riding his motorcycle at an excessive speed while being pursued by Norwood police. Zachary police officers also joined in the pursuit. After reportedly nearly causing several accidents, the young man attempted to jettison his motorcycle and head into a wooded area.
Police subdued the young man and he was retained on charges that included felony aggravated flight from an officer. Yet, as of the writing of this post, there has been no word as to why the Norwood police believed they had cause to pull the young man over or why he chose to flee.
One can only speculate as to why someone would take flight from the police in the manner this young man is alleged to have done. Perhaps he was afraid the authorities meant to do him harm. Or maybe he was fleeing from some other undisclosed threat. But in any case, he has been arrested, just as so many other young men are arrested and charged on a daily basis throughout Louisiana.
If you have been arrested and issued criminal charges, you may be concerned about what the legal system has in store for you. It is understandable if you are feeling apprehensive. Dealing with the police and the courts can be daunting. Fortunately, you don't have to go through the process alone.
If you are ever taken into custody, you will have good reason to promptly contact a Louisiana criminal defense attorney. An attorney can help you with every aspect of your defense. This includes forming a strategy that fits your specific situation. Under certain circumstances, you may be able to have the charges reduced or even totally dismissed.
