Saints receiver Joe Morgan found sleeping, arrested for DWI

It may be the off season for the National Football League, but there generally is no off season for law enforcement and Louisiana drunk driving investigations. State police claim that Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan was found sleeping in his car early Saturday morning and he is now accused of driving while intoxicated.

Baton Rouge man arrested for 2012 burglary on DNA evidence

Law enforcement says that DNA tests led them to a 23-year-old Baton Rouge, Louisiana man who is now accused of a roughly 1-year-old alleged burglary at a pawn shop. While following the alleged DNA trail, authorities reportedly obtained a search warrant and raided the man's home in March. Police apparently did not find any evidence to link the man to the alleged pawn store burglary during the raid. But, authorities apparently interrogated the man, as they claim he says that some had stolen the firearms that he allegedly took in the burglary.

Prosecutors mull charges in Baton Rouge gas station confrontation

Prosecutors reportedly are mulling over several issues surrounding allegations of an assault at a gas station on Scenic Highway that was reported Sunday night. Baton Rouge police arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of battery. Two other people were issued summonses on simple battery related to the alleged confrontation.

Louisiana Supreme Court limits parole rule in juvenile cases

Over the past few years the United States Supreme Court has issued a couple rulings that bar mandatory life sentences without the opportunity for parole for juvenile offenders. Long before those rulings, a teen was convicted in adult court of aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to life without parole. He was 16-years-old when the allegations arose in 1999. He was also convicted of four counts of armed robbery and sentenced to a total of 40 more years to run consecutively to the life sentence.

Louisiana man accused of DWI after crash with bus

A driver is accused of nine counts of negligent vehicular injuring, drunk driving and reckless driving after a car accident Tuesday afternoon. Authorities apparently believe that the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, although it is not clear what has led to that suspicion from a news report in The Times-Picayune. The 48-year-old man is charged with driving while intoxicated and the other offenses after allegedly running into the rear end of a car stopped behind a school bus.
